Found this video of a Windows and XBox 360 game being lined up called Gyromancer. It looks like Bejeweled Twist and a Japanese RPG.

It seems that both Popcap and Square-Enix are using all the balls they've got for this.

Popcap for getting involved with a major Japanese company, and Square-Enix for doing their first XBox Arcade title that I'm aware of.

I reckon their sales will actually suffer a bit in Japan. I mean, why would they buy a console from an American company when they have two well-established local companies?

Marvel and DC

Here's my observation about the two companies.

I find that Marvel's comics aren't as good as they used to be, but when they do a movie, it's usually worth watching.

But with DC, I find that their comics are usually worth reading, but their films are about average.

The "Next Billion" Market

I was talking to my brother about the Zeebo console, and BRIC, the so-called "Next Billion" market over dinner.

He reckons that the main reason that companies are focusing on those markets is due to the credit crunch meaning that they're the only ones that they can afford to develop products for. Such as the Motorola F3.

Soldiers and Socialism

That soldier's compensation fiasco was a disgrace. Those socialists in Parliament see the police and soldiers as tools to be discarded when their usefulness runs out.

If I was in a civil war against the government and found a wounded government soldier, I'd disarm him first and say:

"The reason you're wounded is because you were taken in by the lies that are preached by Parliament. The same Parliament who sees you now as nothing but a discarded tool. Your choices are that either you switch sides, and I will actually try to get you some treatment, or I leave you here. Choose now!"

1. Self-Defence: If some junkie tries to rob you in the street, what do you think will scare them more? Someone threatening them with a knife, or with a pistol?

2. Registering firearms isn't completely effective: Because everyone knows that if you have to use a firearm for something illegal or at least questionable, you make sure that the firearm found by authorities isn't your firearm, or at least, one that's not registered to you. And that usually means stealing it or smuggling it in.

3. Jobs: Let's face it. Sooner or later, if someone wants to get a certain thing, like the latest electronics or a new fridge, they're going to prefer one made in their country. The same would apply to firearms.

When I found out about Wacko Jacko being in the hospital, I started wondering what they're going to say would be the most probable cause of death. Let's face it, Hollywood and those who gain fame through it are not clean as a whistle. Just has to be said. Officially, he was admitted due to cardiac arrest, but due to events like that child scandal a while back and trying to get to grips with drugs, the actual cause has got to be either suicide, murder or accident.

I propose the motion that since our government has proven itself unwilling and unable to serve its people, that it must be removed by any means necessary!

Wikipedia was the first major wiki and still one of the most browsed.
Conservapedia was produced by Andy Schafly, believing that Wikipedia was "full of liberal bias." It does provide a good amount of alternative views, I'll give them that.
Encyclopedia Dramatica is the main wiki for most of the "chan" boards. The best place to go for info on online memes. (Warning: Not safe for work or school! Deleting your cache and browsing history after viewing is highly advised.)
Wikia is basically a hosting-service for wikis covering entire topics.
Wikileaks allows you to view (and submit!) sensitive information. They even supply methods of viewing the site and submitting content securely.

Wikileaks is a website that has the unique specialty of allowing people to anonymously leak documents over the Internet. Perfect if you want to whistleblow on your government or corporation. It even mentions how to lessen the chances of the data being censored or caught (along with you).

Except for one thing.

The site's running a bit low on funds, and it's going to be September before they get anything large. If you want to donate to them, they'd appreciate it.

I officially joined the British Libertarian Party a couple of weeks back. With the document which gave me my membership, came ten businesscards which had the Party logo and web address on one side, and what it means to be a libertarian on the other. I gave most of them to people I knew, but I kept a few to give to certain shops that I reckon would want them in.

Opinion on Media Bias

I was thinking about Media Bias, then it hit me. Every source is biased one way or another, usually due to the opinions of the editors and the journalists. The hard bit is finding out which way a particular source is biased. For example, most people would know that the Guardian is biased towards the left-wing. Papers like the Independent tend to lean to the right.

As for the free newspapers... If they've got any bias, they're keeping it very well hidden.

I like to check out blogs as the next thing in news. They're biased, yeah. But at least they actually admit it!

Found NHK on Sky

NHK, Japan's public broadcast service has this new English-language channel on Sky Digital (Channel 516, doesn't appear to be available on Virgin). I was just browsing through the channels and there it was. I wish I could go somewhere like Tokyo for a change. One thing you have to say about the Japanese though, they work quite hard, so it's understandable when they play just as hard.

Comics and Tracts

Comics haven't only been used to entertain, but also as education tools and even as wartime propaganda.

Classic examples of comics as propaganda include the early Captain America comics.

A modern example of comics being used as propaganda include "Chick Tracts", which try to convince the reader to become a Christian.

Odds are that anyone living in a city has seen a Chick Tract, so you'd know how they try and make their message understandable.

(Before you ask, I don't believe in God. I used to, but I stopped shortly after my mother died.)

I was thinking of saving up for DC Universe Online, a MMO game where you make your own superhero/villain fight alongside/against Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor and Brainiac. I've seen one mission on the hero side where Brainiac's attacking Metropolis by infecting civilians with a nano-virus that makes them run amok. You have to knock them out, and make sure that you extract a sample of the virus to make an antidote with. While you're doing that, Lex Luthor gets the bright idea of testing out his new battlesuit, so you have to floor him as well!

If anyone wants to get a pirate TV station up, I'd support it. It'd be quite a technical challenge.

Word to the wise: Get the transmitter as high above the ground as possible! It'll allow the signal to cover a wider area. That's why pirate radio stations are usually found in a block of flats.
